Best 2009-2011 Sedan/Crossover?

My parents are looking for a new or almost new vehicle. My mom wants something bigger than a car, so something like a crossover since there's not many station wagons around anymore or vans to choose from. Right now we have a 2000 Ford Taurus Wagon, it's been a good car, never broken down, but it's needing some repairs that can get costly, especially for a vehicle that's only worth a couple thousand now. We'd like a vehicle that will last a good 5 years without needing any major maintenance (just regular maintenance, ie. oil change, breaks, all fluids etc.). Unfortunately it will mostly be for city driving, but we will be using it to go to Quebec and Winnipeg in the next few months. It has to be a car that's not as high-up as an SUV though because my dad has trouble getting in and out...So as low as a car, but lots of trunk space for a wheel chair (dad has MS) and lots of space for boxes/suitcases/long items etc. I'll take suggestions on sedans as well if the rear seats go down. We'd like the car to come with a block heater since we'll be moving to Winnipeg, an alarm, power trunk/lift gate (preferably), and a gas tank door that can lock. And something that's really good on gas! We don't have a preference exactly as to what make, but it needs to have an automatic transmission, be under around $27,000 (CDN), and comfortably seat 3 people, so just give me some suggestions on some good reliable cars, thanks!!

Annoying Squeal When Turning?

Have a 2000 Nissan Maxima. From what I have read and researched it could be a wheel bearing, cv joint, or struts. The noise only happens when I turn left, only left, above 20 mphs an when i take larger then slight left turns. Also when I go over bumps at low speed i hear squeaks. I called the shop they said its the bearing and its 390 to fix!...I jacked up the right wheel and shook it and didnt get anything I did it on the left one and it shook a tad with a slight sound. So is it the bearing? Is it hard to replace it myself, I dont have the cash for that now. Is there how to guide online or anything? help :/

My nephew is 5 years old and out of control. He's my brothers son and I love him to death. I have a really small dog and when ever he comes to my house he tortures my dog. Homemade go kart's front wheel bend in while driving?

For some reason when I get in my go kart and after a foot of driving the front wheels kind of buckle and tilt so that the top is facing in and the bottom is facing out (it also stops me from moving forward). I have a suspension system (consisting of pivoting axles on each individual wheel and then a shock on that). Someone told me that its doing that because it's not supported enough and another person told me that it's because the shocks are not stiff enough (and that I should use a c spanner wrench to push it up more grooves). The other weird thing is that when I pull the kart in reverse the tires go back into the right position.

My 17 year old son was driving his 2003 Ford Explorer, when he was hit by another vehicle. My son was approaching a stop light and traveling between 3-5 mph....The vehicle that struck him was a company work vehicle. The work truck was pulling out of a parking lot when he hit my son. His estimated speed was also 3-5 mph. There were no injuries at all, and there was no medical treatment sought. This all happened on April 10th 2011. It was found that driver of the work truck was at fault for inattention. Honestly, this guy was super nice and walked my son through the process of calling police etc til I could get there....Now dealing with the Companies insurance carrier has been a headache!!!! here is the basic timeline....Explorer still drivable....Had to wait 10 days for police report....contacted Company that owned work truck, and they forwarded me to their insurance co....Was advised to seek several estimates, and fax them over....Faxed over estimates to adjuster. All estimates exceeded 5k....Stated she would have to contact an adjuster from local area to work this. Local adjuster came out. Estimated damages to be 3300.00. Insurance Company sent me check for 3300.00 and advised me when vehicle repaired, auto shop would need to work with adjuster on any additional repairs and costs. Explorer was in shop 30 days before finally being totaled. Local adjuster was horrible to work with, did not communicate with body shop, etc. I finally contacted the insurance company, and told them I refused to deal wither contracted adjuster etc. Now that the vehicle has been totaled, they don't want to pay what I think is fair. The insurance company wants to settle for $6928 plus $367 for taxes. Clean retail for the Explorer is $8100. This is for my area. I have been car shopping for 2 days straight. can't find anything comparable with the money they gave me etc. I have taken off work to deal with this etc, been going on for 2 months plus, and Iam worn out with it all...All I want is for my kid to be back in a safe reliable vehicle. The insurance company did provide a rental car. I have a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Sedan with 93,000 miles. When I drive down a steep hill and press on the brakes, the steering wheel shakes and I can hear it,and when I drive fast on the highway the steering shakes but not as much as driving down a hill without pressing the brakes. I called the mechanic and he said it is warped brake rotors. I had my rotors changed in April 2011 and this problem has been happening for over a year. There is a faint high pitch sound coming from the front of my computer by the power button. Sometimes I can't hear it sometimes I can. Could mars be made habitable if we moved more mass to its surface from the asteroid belt?

If humans could devise a method for influencing asteroids to relocate, and aim them at Mars, we could "add" mass to the planet, and/or make a large moon for a binary planet system. My idea is to influence the gravity well of the inner core of Mars to create heat, and cause a magnetosphere to form. With more of the suns rays being deflected, and more mass to hold a larger atmosphere, I believe Mars will terraform itself as the dust settles, and become habitable. In my opinion since Mars does not have the same density of metal at its core as earth, the amount of mass needed to create a weak Magnetosphere would be on the order of double to triple it's current size. The technology needed to move material from the asteroid belt, would not be achievable in the terms of propulsion. An asteroid the size of Texas would need a ship of comparable size with a specific gravity influence large enough to attract it and travel at a reasonable speed. The effect of relocating mass to Mars, would also affect Earths orbit outward, and Mars' orbit inward towards the Sun. This is not a bad thing, as you might assume. As the Sun ages, it is getting brighter, and Earth hotter. Earth will need to expand it's orbit in the future to maintain it's current climate. Do you feel my idea holds weight, and can it be done?

Pulmonary Embolism question?

I had bi-lateral pulmonary embolisms 5 months ago post-op and was hospitalized for a few days. My symptoms were 9/10 pain, could not move due to pain, shortness of breath, low sats, tachycardia, etc... The Doc said the pain should go away within 4-6 weeks. Since then, I have had the usual "zingers" of extreme pain which only last for a few seconds, and an ache of about 2-3/10 pain which comes and goes almost on a daily basis. But I have also occasionally been having signs of new PE's as well. This has happened about 3-4 times over the last 5 months, each time getting worse. Yesterday I had the *exact* same symptoms as my original PE with 9/10 pain, dyspnea, shortness of breath, etc... and But here is the kicker. These "attacks" are temporary and yesterdays episode only lasted about 10 minutes or so and left as quickly as it came. These are debilitating and cannot move or breath while I have them. I have to sit in a semi-tripod position and take very short, shallow breaths to keep the pain down. I have been treated for pleurisy (which I don't meet the criteria for but willing to try anything) and cannot distinguish the symptoms between my original PE and these episodes. However, I know that symptoms of a PE don't just "go away" like mine have been. I really feels like I have a sudden blockage of my vessel which breaks loose and allows blood flow again. Perhaps scar tissue or left over PE, I have no idea but am a Paramedic/Firefighter and return to work this week and CANNOT have this problem while on duty. My Doc doesn't know what is going on (she has referred me to yoga and acupuncture. I am looking for a new Doc right now) and need to get this problem fixed. I have searched the internet tirelessly and haven't found anything remotely comparable to my symptoms. Any thoughts?

the alarm on my '98 grand prix won't stop going off after i opened my car today to go home. Why does my dvd player with usb drive stop reading movies halfway through?

I have a Philips brand DVD player (DVP5990) with a usb drive in it which allows me to play movies/seasons from files on a thumb drive. Recently it has developed the habit of cutting out about 1 hour into the movie and refusing to play more (even if I fast-forward past that point, it does not work). Okay, I have a beach body program "rev abs" and it's a 90 day program, Monday through Saturday.... I work twelve hour warehousew shifts three to four days a week. TRS stands for tricare select reserve. TRS is a premium based insurance that national guard and reserve soldiers can enroll in. However, since my husband was hired by border patrol, he is no longer eligible to enroll in TRS because he became eligible for the federal benefits package. I think this is unfair and discriminatory. If the federal benefits were even comparable to TRS i would understand. However, the federal benefits are a lot more expensive and the deductibles are more than twice as high.

I heard from someone that riding a snowmobile in dry dirt in the summer time would damage and lock up the tracks on a snowmobile and was wondering if there is any truth to that? I assume friction and heat might cause the bearings to lock up, but I think as long as you keep it in soft dirt like mud or average trail conditions, it might do fine. Any ideas? Ipod nano 5th gen isnt recognized apple logo ...?

i just bought a used ipod off ebay and it said i need to replace the click wheel so i bought it for 17.00 when turn it on all i get is the apple logo but yet there is menu navigation and if i hit the right combination of buttons i can get it to play i checked under device manager and it shows the ipod as mass storage device and upon double clicking the usb device i get the error code the device cannot start (10) so apparently the click wheel does work but theres some other problem with it also i can get it into dignostics mode but hard reset doesnt do anything and disk mode doesnt apper in my computer please help!!!

Fable 3 glitch question.?

I was recently playing Fable 3, I when to Reavers mansion after buying the Understone DLC to play the Wheel of Misfortune. When I clicked to spin the wheel it froze and I was stuck in the room with no way to get out, all of the doors were closed and no enemies came after me. I tried going to the sanctuary and it wont let me fast travel, I tried to load an older save but it wont let me, and I tried to join another players game but it wont let me connect. Is there any way to fix this and is there any way for me to hook the xbox hard drive to the computer and try to get back any previous saves, which I think is possible.
