What is the best brand of speakers to buy?

dances with cats is correct, but what i would add is are you buying a receiver/amp as well or just speakers with built in power? if you have a low budget get 2 speakers first and then add a sub later when you can afford it. if you want something that already has power(meaning you dont have to have an amp or receiver) look at audioengine speakers, they are pretty decent in price and sound great, plus they have a sub out. i highly agree that bose is garbage, its 90% marketing, they still use paper material for their speakers. if you can listen to bose speakers turn off their acustimass sub and see how bad their speakers sound, no mids, no range at all.
